Microphone input
Decibel Meter Premium uses microphone access only while measuring sound. Samples are processed on the device to calculate sound-level estimates, including current level, minimum, maximum, average, Leq, peak and history.
The app does not save, upload or share raw microphone audio.
Saved sessions
When you record a session, the app stores timestamped sound-level samples and summary statistics locally on that device. Optional names, location labels and notes are also stored locally. The app retains the newest 50 sessions and removes the oldest session when that limit is exceeded.
Android app backup is disabled. On iOS, saved-session and interrupted-recording directories are excluded from device backup and use iOS file protection. These controls reduce unintended cloud copies but do not affect files that you have already exported elsewhere.
The app does not require an account or include advertising. Saved-session data is not transmitted to the publisher or a remote server.
Optional diagnostics
The app includes Firebase Crashlytics, Analytics and Performance Monitoring on supported Android, iOS and Huawei builds. These services remain disabled unless you opt in to Share optional diagnostics in Measurement settings. You can opt out again at any time. Diagnostics are pseudonymous, not anonymous.
When enabled, Firebase may process crash stack traces, app version, operating-system and device model information, automatic app-lifecycle events, coarse feature events, performance timings, technical installation, app-instance, Crashlytics or session identifiers, network metadata and coarse country or region inferred from that metadata.
The app does not add raw microphone audio, dB readings, saved-session samples or statistics, session timestamps, names, location labels, notes, filenames, export contents, microphone route names, account identifiers, email addresses or phone numbers to those reports.
Firebase Performance and Crashlytics include supporting components such as Firebase Installations, Firebase Sessions, Remote Config infrastructure and Google Data Transport. The app does not use Remote Config to change product behavior. Google acts as a diagnostic service provider under Firebase’s terms.
Advertising identifier collection, Apple identifier-for-vendor collection, ad-personalization signals and automatic screen reporting are disabled by the app.
Retention and deletion
The newest 50 saved sessions remain on the device until you delete them, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app. Individual sessions can be deleted from Saved sessions.
Delete all local data removes sessions, interrupted-recording recovery, temporary reports, settings, unsent crash reports, local Analytics state and the Firebase installation identifier. Microphone permission remains controlled by the operating system, and previously shared files remain with their destination.
Turning off Share optional diagnostics stops future app-enabled diagnostic collection. Records already transmitted to Firebase remain subject to the publisher’s configured retention and Google’s product-specific retention. Because the app has no account and does not send names, email addresses or phone numbers, the publisher cannot locate a diagnostic record by your identity.
Accuracy and safety
Results are consumer sound-level estimates. Phone microphones, cases, automatic input processing, input routes and device position can affect results. Decibel Meter Premium is not a certified sound-level meter and is not intended for regulatory, legal, occupational-compliance or emergency decisions.
Children’s privacy
The app is not directed to children. Optional pseudonymous diagnostics use the same opt-in and deletion controls for every user.
Changes
Material policy changes will be published here with a revised effective date before the related app update is released.
